Why do some people say it is a point guard league now whereas the league has been dominated by wing players?

Out of the last 4 teams that won none of them had a top 3 point guard. Dallas best player was Nowitski who you could say is a wing player. Lakers best player was Kobe Bryant. J Kidd and Fisher were servicable reliable point guards but not the best player on their team or elite point guards. When the Celtics won their chip in 08, Pierce was the best player on the team and Rondo was not even the 3rd best player on the Celtics.
